Cantonment is an unincorporated Escambia County community centered on Highway 29, north of Pensacola and south of Molino, about 25 road miles from our office. It lies between the Perdido River on the west and the Escambia River on the east, and the name goes back to 1814, when Andrew Jackson camped his troops here; a cantonment is temporary quarters for troops.
Cantonment's ZIP code, 32533, covers the whole community, and its housing is mostly detached: about 85% single-family houses, with a median build year of 1992 and roughly one home in five from the 1990s, per 2020-2024 Census estimates. Cantonment calls cross the Pensacola Bay Bridge, then take Askew Parkway, Pine Cone Drive and County Road 297A to Muscogee Road. Highway 29 runs through the middle of the community; we work from Ten Mile Road in the south to Barrineau Park Road in the north, and out to Farm Hill, Cottage Hill, Muscogee and Quintette. A county park such as Carver Park or Santa Maria Plaza at Farm Hill is a useful landmark when an address is hard to find.
